“I’m Thinking…But I’m not Growing Rich!” by Bob Doyle

Bob Doyle's Wealth Beyond Reason program is quickly becoming one of the most popular Law of Attraction training programs. We, from Mindbridge, are beginning to see the work of his students all over the internet. They are competent and prolific.

This article directly by Bob Doyle, will give you an idea why.

So you’ve read “Think and Grow Rich”, and you’ve got an intellectual understanding that you “become what you think about”. You have a list of affirmations about wealth, and you recite them every day.

But you still have no money. Wealth doesn’t seem to be anywhere around.

What’s the deal here? According to Napoleon Hill, you ought to be filthy stinkin’ rich, right?

Well, here’s the real deal: If you’re not “Wealth Conscious”, than all this thinking, and all this affirming isn’t going to bring you wealth. Thinking, and affirming are simply actions you’re taking. But they are just PART of the sequence of creating wealth. If you skip the FIRST step, you simply can’t get anywhere.

So what’s the first step?

To attract wealth, you first have to BE wealthy. THEN, you think wealthy thoughts, speak wealthy affirmations, and take wealthy action.

“But how can I BE wealthy if I’m NOT wealthy?” you ask. Logical question, but it’s based on the false assumption that you don’t have wealth. You HAVE wealth. You’re simply not aware of it. You have constructed a physical reality that prevents you from experiencing Wealth. This can all be explained with the science of Quantum Physics.

So let’s look at some very basic concepts of Quantum Physics that will explain what I’m talking about.

First, you probably are aware - at least on an intellectual level - that at a subatomic level, we, and everything else in the Universe, is Energy. When you break everything down, we’re all made of the same stuff, and we’re all connected. The Universe is just this huge ocean of Energy, vibrating at various frequencies which gives the illusion of individuation. That is, we experience the illusion of separateness from each other, physical objects, and wealth because our “senses” are decoding the Energy around us in such a way as to create our physical reality.

This all happens in our thoughts.

And, our thoughts are not to be trusted. See Jill Bolte Taylor in her presentation video to the TED Conference. She is a neuro anatomist who suffered loss of her left brain during a massive stroke. She describes how this impacted her thinking step by step. She found that the details of her present life mattered very little. She was aware, cognitively and emotionally of a vast connection to all living things. This was what mattered and she felt great relief, calm and joy as she floated in this sea of connection. Then what was left of her left brain function would kick in and she would hear some worry, "Get help", "This is not good...." almost as if her left brain were some other being that was dying. Because, she was comfortable and whole in the beingness she was experiencing in her right brain.

It was her left brain that recognized the separations between things. It was her left brain that thought to use the telephone to call for help.

So, to simplify things quickly here for the sake of time (another illusion), “things” only exist because we observe them. It is in our observing that things come into existence. Without our observing, things are simply “waves” - probabilities of existence. Physicists agree on this.

Another wonderful and illustrative video is "What the Bleep do We Know?" This contains many of the physicists you met in the movie, The Secret, as well as other physicists, other social scientists, and some theologians. The video explores the idea that we experience only one of an infinite number of possibilities at any given time. This is one of the explanations given for the miraculous healings that sometimes occur. The physicians or healing team simply help "believe" the patient into another possibility, in which the patient has no illness, or disability.

Our beliefs are a very powerful Energy system in our lives. Our beliefs allow or disallow certain experiences in our lives, including wealth. They make up who we are. We “BE” in the world according to our beliefs. If we are being is “someone who is trying to get wealthy by repeating affirmations”, then THAT is what our reality will be. We will just be TRYING to get wealthy.

We have to make the decision that we ARE wealthy, contrary to any external physical evidence. That evidence is an illusion based on the belief systems that have guided who we have been being up to that point.

It is difficult to change your belief systems. Your left brain has been guiding you in this world, and its job is to help you to see the separate, the individual events chosen at any given moment, and to shield you from all the other possibilities that would make it difficult to walk around, much less to function at a job or as part of a family unit with daily chores.

Yet, if you can get to a quiet place, such as advocated by the 24 week training of Charles Haanel, and if you can close your eyes, and picture yourself floating on a raft, with the sun warming you, and the gentle waves rocking you and the wind blowing over your skin keeping you cool enough, but not too cool, it is easier to feel connected to all that is.

When I was a child, I used to take my dogs and go to the woods. While there, I felt no stress, no worries, and I felt I could accomplish anything. Perhaps this is a better visualization for you -- Sitting on a warm rock, surrounded by great trees and listening only to the sound of the wind through the tree tops and your dogs running back and forth nearby, and perhaps a squirrel complaining that you and they have invaded his territory and stopped his work. There might be the call of a hawk in flight, looking for lunch, perhaps hoping that your dogs will frighten a rabbit or mouse into running into a clearing.

You probably have your own favorite memories. At these times times, it is possible to feel the richness of a generous environment, and a good Universe that is there to provide whatever you need or want.

Recently I was reciting an affirmation with a five year old, and she tried to correct me. "You aren't wealthy!" What a shame that a five year old already has some idea of wealth, that she probably doesn't fit into either, but I quickly corrected her.

"Yes, I am. Of course I am, and so are you." And then I did what my parents did to me when I was a child. I don't think it happens much anymore. But we were raised to appreciate and to be grateful for the abundance of living in a middle class home in the United States. "Don't you know that there are children who don't have even water to drink every day, much less food? Don't you know there are children who are sick because they don't have enough of anything to stay healthy? You and I are soooo lucky to have more than enough food and water, and clothes whenever we need them. And, you can travel to see your grandparents whenever you need to, and they can come to visit you. There are children who can't travel safely around their country... Indeed, we are very wealthy!"

A truly wealthy person isn’t wealthy because they have money. They have money, because they are wealthy! That’s the distinction that most people have backward!

Here’s an example to illustrate what I mean:

Tony Robbins became a millionaire at a very young age. Then, due to a series of poor judgments, he lost it. But within a year, he had it back. How did he do this? HE NEVER LOST HIS WEALTH. He only lost his money, which is just a symbol of wealth! Because he is “Wealth Conscious”, he literally “magnetically attracts” wealth into his life. He truly can’t help it! It’s who he is! And there are thousand out there like him, who attract wealth simply because it’s who they are. You can make the same decision and have the same results.

Conversely, a person who has grown up with “lack consciousness” can win millions in the lottery and lose it within a year. Their consciousness - their ENERGY - simply can’t maintain the attraction to Wealth because they aren’t “wealthy” in who they are being.

But again, Wealth is a decision. If you aren’t currently experiencing wealth, you first need to realize that abundance is everywhere…in fact it’s all there is. Poverty and lack are the illusions. You can shift your consciousness to Wealth - BE Wealth - by simply making the decision, THEN your thoughts, speech, and action will allow you to experience the wealth that is yours!

Some students of the Law of Attraction, and some critics too, take this kind of statement as a representation of hocus pocus, or the idea that if you change your thoughts, your bank account will quickly reflect it, and if your bank account isn't what you want it to be, it is because of errant thinking.

As Mike Dooley says, a couch potato who is visualizing and reciting affirmations, is not going to change his life. You have to get up and do something. Changing your relationship with the idea of wealth, or having money, is only the beginning. In the Rich Dad, Poor Dad series, by Robert Kiyosaki and Sharon Lechter, they teach the rudiments of wealth building. Robert Kiyosaki tells about having his birth father, who was a teacher and an educational administrator who taught Robert to "get a good education and to find a good job." Today in America we might add, "with benefits."

His poor dad, who was actually his best friend's father, advised him to invest his money and his time. Their stories are wonderful, but their point is that a person needs to learn what to do with the money they have, or they will never successfully accumulate an abundance. This has explained for us at Mindbridge, why so many lottery winners are more in debt a few years after their win than they were before they gained all that money.

So, there is more to building wealth than just having a good attitude about money. Reading or listening to Robert Kiyosaki is a good adjunct to changing beliefs.

This is indeed a complex subject which challenges our core belief systems. But it is those very belief systems that keep a person in a state of lack.

Look at your financial situation today. Look at your core beliefs about Wealth and You, and see if your life isn’t a PERFECT reflection of your beliefs. Then, look where those beliefs may have originated. When you can awaken to yourself that your beliefs create your reality, rather than the other way around, you have the option to truly be free to experience a reality of prosperity that you deserve!
