Charles Haanel and The Master Key System, written in 1909

If one does not know to which port

one is sailing, no wind is favorable.

- Seneca

Charles Haanel wrote The Master Key System as a training guide for those who wished to become powerful, influential and to live abundant and satisfying lives. If you are one of those who will dare to live a life which you control; if you are a truth seeker or if you want to be able to change the course of contemporary life as we know it, The Master Key is an important training. Charles Haanel did not write this for those who were satisfied with ordinary lives, but for those who wanted extraordinary lives and who were not afraid to let their light shine as a beacon in the dark. As Charles Haanel says, if you want to be in a position to help others, you need power. He wrote this training to give you that power.

He was one of the masters of the New Thought Philosophy. We have other New Thought authors and ideas highlighted in our more complete section. Not all of them were writing in the early 1900's since this philosophy continues today.

This is meant to be an introduction, or a "take home" guide. If, after going through this, you believe that you would like to take the course in depth, I would recommend a site dedicated to Charles Haanel that includes access to a study group,, and a free and complete adobe text of The Master Key System.

Putting it in Perspective

Charles Haanel wrote The Master Key System at the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. (Europe and Great Britain started at the end of the previous century.) This was a time of tremendous transition from a labor intensive agrarian and hand manufacturing society to a mechanized industrial one, from horses to automobiles, and from gas lighting to electric lighting and from the telegraph to the telephone.

We know that once voice could be sent hundreds of miles through wires, it was only a matter of time before sound and pictures and data could be saved and viewed later or transmitted almost instantaneously. But, most did not see the future as did Charles Haanel. As with any great changes, there are those who prosper and those whose lives are diminished as they are left behind or others who are caught up in something they don't understand and can't control. Imagine those whose lives were dependent on the horse, who made horse drawn plows or carriages who weren't able to shift to a growing need. Imagine the son of a farmer who goes to the city to join the labor ranks and finds that he must work long hours in poor conditions and that he is not able to spend time (as he had been used to on the farm) with his friends and family. Ghettos were an unexpected result, even to Charles Haanel we suspect, of the labor migration to the cities without family and social support networks.

As you will see, Charles Haanel has great hope that the teaching of the Universal Laws to all people will help Democracy to fulfill its promise of exalting, and emancipating all human beings. This would naturally happen as we recognize the divinity of the human spirit -- that all power is from within and that "no human being has any more power than any other human being" once they have mastered the key.

Perhaps in this new century there will be a Spiritual Revolution, where we, as human beings, will catch up with the scientific and technological changes that dominated the 20th Century. It is up to you. The Master Key System of Charles Haanel, is a 24 week course with a daily meditation or mental exercise. A complete copy is available for downloading and I recommend reading Charles Haanel in its entirety. However, I will summarize the 200+ pages down to 24, so you can print and carry one page per week in your pocket, purse or backpack.

Charles Haanel recommends that you find a quiet, silent space where you will not be disturbed, where you will be able to study and meditate. If this is brand new to you, please do the best you can to follow these instructions as written. If you have been studying spiritual laws and meditating for a year or more, some of the weekly lessons might seem very familiar. If that is the case, pick one of our Universal Laws as a substitute for that week, but the course as written by Charles Haanel, suggests daily meditation on your connection with an omnipotent source of power and creativity for six months. Isn't your life worth a few minutes each day to learn to master your fate?

As Charles Haanel says in his introduction, "You already have the power....This world is no dead pile of stones and timber, but it is a living thing." Living things change. Let's catch up, together.

Part One, Week one: Meditation Practice

Sit erect in a quiet space. Be perfectly still for 15 to 30 minutes to gain control over your body. Gradually relax each muscle in your body.

Thoughts for the week:

Harmony in the world within results in optimism and affluence. Affluence within results in affluence without, as Charles Haanel explains.

When the mind thinks correctly, we build strength but it is through this same mind that all distress, sickness, lack, limitation and every form of discord and disharmony is admitted to our lives. Charles Haanel says that it is through the subconscious that we are connected to the Universal Mind, or the creative source, or to God the Father. The bible says succinctly, "much gathers more and loss leads to greater loss," unless you learn to control your mind.

Charles Haanel explains, there is but one consciousness in the Universe and when it thinks, its thoughts become things. As it is omnipresent, it is in each of us; each individual is a manifestation of that omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent consciousness. We are each but the individuation of the Universal, the Cosmic Mind.

Every atom is continually striving to manifest more life; all are intelligent and all are seeking to carry out the purpose for which they were created. Charles Haanel is clear that our ability to receive depends upon our recognition of this Universal Fountain of supply, this infinite energy of which each individual is an outlet. [Ed note: A difficulty with receiving is evident when it is difficult to accept compliments or caresses or help from a lover or friend. Receptiveness is a passive, openly vulnerable state and it is difficult for some individuals to be in this state. Some people martyr themselves in a constant outflow of energy without any chance for replenishment. If this is the case in your life, wouldn't now be a good time to work on this? Sometimes the Universe is waiting with gifts that you are not allowing to come to you.]

Part Two, Week Two: Meditation Practice

Sit still as before, but now inhibit all thought in order to gain control of your mind.

Thoughts for Week Two:

Charles Haanel says, the loftier the aspiration, the purer and more intense are the gratifications which existence yields. [Ed note: Thus, in the words of Joe Vitale and James Arthur Ray, "Dare something worthy!"]

The conscious mind is the watchman at the gate of the unconscious, attempting to protect it from false impressions leading to fear, worry, poverty or disease. Unfortunately, when the watchman is off guard as might happen during panic, or during the height of anger, or, as Charles Haanel explains, when caught in the impulses of an irresistible mob.

[Ed note: Charles Haanel predated TV and motion pictures and since it has been documented that prolonged TV watching lowers ones conscious brain wave pattern to one just above sleep, it is likely that the conscious brain is not on guard at this time and that the TV or movie images go straight to the unprotected unconscious as if you are going through that experience. Remember, the unconscious does not have the power of reason and does not exist in time. Therefore, a movie about fighting dragons in the distant past will be as acceptable to the unconscious as a movie about a contemporary businessman. If the images are of abundance and courage, all will be well, but if they are of deprivation and lack, or if they promote a sense of fear, we, at Mindbridge suspect that it will offset much of the conscious work that you are doing.]

The unconscious is the part of your mind that communicates to Divinity and it is important to know how it works. Charles Haanel already knew that the unconscious is intuitive and works faster than the reasoning conscious brain. As we stated above, it does not operate in time. It never sleeps. It works with pictures rather than words or ideas, so you want to make a clear picture of whatever it is you want to manifest.

It has been found that by sending plain pictures to the unconscious, of specific things to be accomplished, forces are set in motion that lead to the result desired. Here then is a source of power which places us in touch with omnipotence.

When you want to change your life, attend to any intuitive nudge. Habit wears deep groves in the unconscious so once you have started on a new program, if you keep at it for just a while, it will be harder to stop than to continue.

The unconscious is a source of imagination and the channel through which we recognize our Divine Source.

Charles Haanel quotes James Allen: "Cause and effect is as absolute and undeviating in the hidden realm of thoughts as in the world of the visible and material things. Mind is the master weaver, both of the interior garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance."

Part Three, Week Three: Meditation Practice

Be perfectly still. Inhibit all thought. Let muscles take normal condition removing all pressure from nerves and eliminate tension which produces physical exhaustion. Relax every muscle and nerve, one by one.

Thoughts for Week Three:

By now, Charles Haanel has already given us the information of Dr. Eric Amidi's book, The Secret to the Secret and Joe Vitale's book, The Attractor Factor.

Thought is the cause and the experiences in life are the effect. Eliminate any tendency to complain because it rests with you to change those experiences and make them what you would like them to be.

Charles Haanel believed the unconscious was located in the solar plexus [Ed note: which is a major chakra and acupuncture meridian.] He said that when it is active and radiating life, energy and vitality to every part of the body, everyone you meet will be filled with pleasant sensations.

Charles Haanel is clear that the arch enemy of the unconscious is fear. This must be absolutely destroyed before there is any chance of letting any light shine.

This is also the belief of Napoleon Hill. He talks about 10 fears and insists that a priority has to be to eliminate all fear from your experience of life. Since it is not possible to have absolute belief, and fear, at the same time, this would concur with the directions of Jesus as well.

When you are really one with Infinite Power you can overcome any adverse condition by the power of thought -- you will have nothing to fear!

The man who knows he has an unconscious connected to Cosmic Consciousness, will not fear criticism or any thing else. He will be too busy radiating courage, confidence and power; he will anticipate success by his mental attitude; he will pound barriers to pieces and leap over chasms of doubt and hesitation which fear places in his path.

Part Four, Week Four: Meditation Practice

Be still. Inhibit thought. Relax each muscle and nerve. Then let go of all adverse conditions such as hatred, anger, worry, envy, sorrow, trouble or disappointment of any kind. Negative thoughts are the seed which is constantly germinating into discordant conditions.

The Law of Vibration is given vitality by the law of love. What is the secret of power? Service. We get what we give. [Ed: For abundance, help others become abundant. For joy, help others to become joyful.]

Thoughts for the Week

What you think, do or feel is an indication of what you are. Thought is energy. He who has strengthened and purified his thoughts and come into an understanding of the law of abundance will go at once to the source of supply. It is thus that fate, fortune and destiny will be controlled as readily as a captain controls his ship or, as Charles Haanel adds, an engineer his train.

The trained mind knows that every transaction must benefit every person who is in any way connected with the transaction.

The universe cannot express through you as long as you are busy with your own plans; your own purposes.

Therefore as TUT would say focus on the end result feeling of happiness or abundance and let the Universe take care of the "how".

Form the habit, "I am ... whole and perfect.... I am strong and powerful... I am happy, harmonious, wealthy and wise... or enter your favorite form of beingness.

The bible says, "know ye not that ye are a temple of the living god?" If we wish to be of service to others, we must have power, and more power but to get it we must give it; we must be of service. [Ed note: this is the basis of all officer training in the USA.] The more we give, the more we shall get.

The Universal cannot express through you as long as you are busy with your own plans, your own purposes.

Ho'oponopono and the Seldona Method are clearing methods that are talked about more in our section under Spirit and Science, Teachers with Clearing Tools. Once we have cleared away old memories and old reactions and feelings related to those memories, then we are free to move forward with our lives. As Dr. Hew Len, teacher of Ho'oponopono, says, "The Super Conscious Mind is memory free, unaffected by memories replaying in the Subconscious Mind. It is always one with Divine Intelligence. However Divine Intelligence moves so moves the Super Conscious Mind. Self Identity operates by Inspiration and memory. Only one of them, either memory or Inspiration, can be in command of the Subconscious Mind at any given moment. The Soul of Self Identity serves only one master at a time, usually memory the thorn instead of Inspiration the rose."

Part Five, Week Five: Meditation Practice

Go to your quiet place and relax. Select a beautiful place to picture with trees, friends, associations. At first you will find yourself thinking of everything under the sun except the ideal upon which you had decided to concentrate. But do not let that discourage you. Persistence will win. But persistence requires that you practice these exercises everyday without fail.

Thoughts for the Week:

The mind is largely the result of heredity of all the environments of all the past generations. We can consciously use the desirable characteristics and we can repress and refuse to allow the undesirable ones to manifest.

See Hale Dwoskin's The Sedona Method or use Ho'oponopono (Joe Vitale's Zero Limits) for clearing the undesirable memories and ideas. It is not possible to overemphasize this. At Mindbridge, Inc., we did not see any progress at all until we had begun the process of clearing. Before that, we were very positive, and we were using affirmations, and we were visualizing every evening, yet we did not move one inch in a consciously chosen forward direction until we had done some clearing.

Our Mental Home:

If we have stored away nothing but courageous thought and if we have been optimistic, positive and immediately thrown away any kind of negative thought to the scrap pile, our mental material is now of the best kind..... We know that the material we are using to build our home is solid.

Mental House Clearing:

To gain the fine estate your labor is studying and harvesting, sacrifice only your limitations and servitudes.

1) You must desire it

2) You must assert your claims

3) You must take possession

The power is from within but we cannot receive it unless we give it. We are each of us but the channel through which the Omnipotent power is being differentiated into form; unless we give, the channel is obstructed and we can receive no more.

This is the Law of Giving. Whatever we give will be returned to us in greater quantities. This is also the law against hording. Resources must be kept in circulation. If you have books you are not using, pass them along. If you have money that is sitting in a savings bank, this is not as good as putting it to work in your business, but this is certainly better than keeping it in a drawer since the bank at least will have the use of it. Putting money in a drawer, or keeping unused books on a book shelf will surely stop you from receiving more.

Part Six, Week Six: Meditation Practice

Sit is a quiet room. Relax every muscle and nerve. Examine a photo for 10 minutes, cover it and bring it into your imagination detail by detail. If you have trouble the first time, study it again and then close your eyes and try again. In order to cultivate the power of attention, it is important to learn to picture details in your mind. Repeat the process until you can see every detail perfectly.

Thoughts for the Week:

It is through attention that you will finally be able to overcome obstacles of any kind. Let power be dissipated by scattering the thought from one object to another and no result is apparent; but focus this power through attention or concentration on any single purpose for any length of time and nothing becomes impossible. Just as electricity is a form or motion and its effect will depend upon the mechanism to which it is attached, so the brain is thought in motion and its effect will depend on the mechanism to which it is attached.

Our FAITH must be strong enough to generate a current of sufficient strength to bring our purpose into manifestation. The man who looks within instead of without cannot fail to make use of the mighty forces which will eventually determine his course in life and so bring him into vibration with all that is best, strongest and most desirable.

This is pure Charles Haanel, and New Thought. It is all about focus and concentration. This is the strength of meditation or NLP or EFT as a partner with you in this endeavor.

Men are learning to place themselves in harmony with the Universal Mind. They are learning the unity of all things. They are learning the basic methods and principles of thinking, and this is changing conditions and multiplying results. They are finding that circumstances and environment follow the trend of mental and spiritual progress.

Thought is the process by which we absorb the Spirit of Power, and hold the result in our inner consciousness until it becomes a part of our ordinary consciousness. The method of accomplishing this result by the persistent practice of a few fundamental principles, as explained in this System, is the master-key which unlocks the storehouse of Universal Truth.

Sometimes it is important to let go. At Mike Dooley says, "The Universe always knows the fastest, shortest and best way to get us to our destination." Just this morning, I was planning on a block of free time from 9am to 2:30pm during which to accomplish a great deal of work on this website. At first there was a car accident I fortunately avoided, and the commute went along those lines, with one hurtle after another to jump over. I got to my morning job, expecting to pick up a "ready" child and drop him off at school for his trip to the apple orchard. He was not ready and did not want to leave home, but I managed to get him out the door. I carried him when he refused to walk and we got to school with 30 seconds to spare before the bus was to leave. Then, I had to return to his house where his brother was home sick.

This would mean that I would have to stay and be responsible for this six year old. My day's plan was slipping away.... I had a moment of regret, and probably a touch of resentment, and then I did Ho'oponopono to clear those feelings. It was a beautiful day, and I breathed and trusted that it would work out exactly as it needed to work out.

By the time I reached the boys home, he was up and ready for school. His mother explained that his sleeping late had apparently done the trick and he was no longer sick. She handed me the money for a taxi, called the car service, and I dropped the boy off at school before coming to the library.

Part Seven, Week Seven: Meditation Practice

Sit, relax. Visualize your friend as you last saw her -- the place, teh conversation & the expressions on her face. -- Smile? See her eyes light up.

Part Eight, Week Eight: Meditation Practice

Sit. Relax. Take an object and follow it back to its origin. See in your mind's eye, how it was made.

Part Nine, Week Nine: Meditation Practice

Visualize a flower. Plant it and water it and put it in the sun. See the roots grow. See the stem shoot up.... Smell the fragrance of the flower.

Thoughts for the Week:

Affirm the condition you want as an already existing fact. Positive thoughts substitute for negative thoughts. Action is the blossom of thought.

Three common desires are:

These can all be found in the world within. To know the truth is to be in harmony with the Infinite and Omnipotent power. Send out thoughts of love and they return to us like bread on the waters; but if we send out thoughts of fear, worry, jealousy, anger, hate etc., we will reap the results in our own lives.

Man is the sum total of his thoughts.

Frederick Andrews was born with an incurable disease which was supposed to cripple him. Every day of his life from when he was a small child, he recited and affirmed,

I am whole and perfect

I am strong and powerful

I am healthy, harmonious, happy, sexy, wealthy and wise.

His body became strong and powerful, and his life was filled with all those attributes.

Part Ten, Week Ten: Meditation Practice

Mentally draw a black horizontal line 6" long on the wall. Mentally draw 2 vertical lines connecting to the horizontal line. Draw another horizontal line to complete a square. Draw a circle within the square. Put a point inside the circle. Pull the point toward you to make the circle a cone. Change the color.

Thoughts for the Week:

The Law of Causation depends on polarity. A circuit must be formed. If your thought is harmonizing and in tune with the Infinite Mind, it will form a circuit. Where there is no harmony or polarity, the dynamo stops.

Eliminate all destructive or competitive thoughts!

This is so easy with Centerpointe's Holosync. Please visit our pages that describe this product, and order a free sample. No credit information is needed until you decide whether or not to order.

Part Eleven, Week Eleven: Meditation Practice

It was also said that there are no limitations. "Whatsoever things ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye shall receive them and ye shall receive them."

Charles Haanel will hold to that!

Thoughts for the Week:

Like attracts Like

Opposite poles attract each other or enter into partnership. "Believe that ye shall receive and ye shall receive."

Charles Haanel makes a statement that James Arthur Ray tried to get right in the movie, The Secret: The spirit which sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, moves in the animal and creates in Man as the Universal Mind. The Law of Attraction is the Law by which faith is brought into manifestation.

Part Twelve, Week Twelve: Meditation Practice

Only in absolute silence, says Charles Haanel, may one come into contact with Divinity and open for himself the channels by which persistent practice and concentration leads to perfection.

Thoughts for the Week:

You must:

first have the knowledge of your power

second, the courage to dare

third the faith to do so.

The only way to keep from going backward is to keep going forward..... You can construct anything you can imagine but your idea must be sharp, clear-cut and definite. To have one ideal today and another tomorrow is to scatter forces and accomplish nothing. Napoleon Hill talks about the importance of visualizing every detail and emphasizes that all the great inventors first visualized their inventions, and then built them.

The principle which gives thought the dynamic power to correlate with its object and therefore to master every adverse human experience is the Law of Attraction which is another name for love! Charles Haanel says that thought impregnated with love becomes invincible. This is the principle of Conversations with God. He said, all decisions and all action comes out of love or fear. We know that anything that originated in fear is going to do us harm, so avoid fear based decisions and decide everything based on love!

New brain cells are necessary to accept the idea of unlimited powers. The intention causes the brain cells to be created. Your ability to think is your ability to act upon the Universal Mind. Each individual is but an expression or manifestation of the One.

If you haven't tried Centerpointe's Holosync yet, you haven't experienced the feeling of a deep, yet conscious, meditation. Holosync will cause neurons to be created and will enlarge the connection between your left and right brain. This is well documented in Bill Harris' literature. It is possible to order a free sample and there is no pressure to buy. It really is the perfect tool for Law of Attraction meditation.

Part Thirteen, Week Thirteen: Meditation Practice

Meditate and recognize that you are part of the whole and that a part must be in the same kind and quality of the whole; The only difference there can possibly be is in degree. When this begins to permeate your consciousness, not your body but the "I" are an integral part of the great whole. You will be able to say, "The father and I are one."

Thoughts for the Week:

The day of the dreamer has come! Herbert Kaufman said: They are the architects of greatness. Their vision lies within their souls. They peer beyond the veils and mists of doubt and pierce the walls of unborn Time. The belted wheel, the trail of steel, the churning screw are shuttles in the loom on which they weave their magic tapistries. Makers of Empire, they have fought for bigger things than crowns and highter seats than thrones. Your homes are set upon the land a dreamer found. Charles Haanel reminds us that the pictures on its walls are visions from a dreamer's soul.

They are the chosen few, the blazers of the way. Walls crumble and Empires fall; the tidal wave sweeps from the sea and tears a fortress from its roots. the rotting nations drop off from Times bough and only things the dreamers make live on.

Lord Bacon recommended that we will get exactly what we give, but we will have to give first. The giving is simply a mental process because thoughts are causes and conditions are effects.

Part Fourteen, Week Fourteen: Meditation Practice

Meditate on Harmony

Thoughts for the Week:

Conditions must be satisfactory for growth.

Part Fifteen, Week Fifteen: Meditation Practice

Meditate on insight which enables us to understand the difficulties as well as the possibilities in any undertaking.

Thoughts for the Week:

Insight is developed in the silence by concentration.

Part Sixteen, Week Sixteen: Meditation Practice

Practice seeing that harmony and happiness are states of consciousness -- and do not depend on possession of things.

Thoughts for the Week:

Law of Periodicity or the Law of Sevens. In accordance with the Law of Periodicity, the sixth period in any seven periods is marked by reactions, changes, revolutions or crises. The Law of Periodicity comes from the Periodic Table of Mendeleev which determined the sequential complexity of the elements, adding one electron at a time, filling one electron shell before starting on the next. Similarity of elements on the table is then vertical rather than sequential because similar reactions are dependent on having the same number of electrons in the outermost shell.

Charles Haanel would hold that life is growth, and growth is change, each seven years period takes us into a new cycle. The first seven years is the period of infancy. The next seven the period of childhood, representing the beginning of individual responsibility. The next seven represents the period of adolescence. The fourth period marks the attainment of full growth. The fifth period is the constructive period, when men begin to acquire property, possessions, a home and family. The next from 35 to 42, is a period of reactions and changes, and this in turn is followed by a period of reconstruction, adjustment and recuperation, so as to be ready for a new cycle of sevens, beginning with the fiftieth year.

It is also true according to the Hindus that at this stage of our solar orbit, we are living the shortest lives. Although 50 is mid-life for us, it would just be the beginning of our lives if we were in a period closer to the center of energy in the Milky Way.

Part Seventeen, Week Seventeen: Meditation Practice

Relax completely. Avoid any anxiety as to results. Remember that power comes through repose. Let the thought dwell upon your object until it is completely identified with it, until you are conscious of nothing else. If you wish to eliminate fear, concentrate on courage. If you wish to eliminate lack, concentrate on abundance. If you wish to eliminate disease, concentrate on health. Always concentrate on the ideal as an already existing fact; This is the germ cell ... which will manifest in form.

Thoughts for the Week:

Concentration, Charles Haanel explains to us, does not mean the mere thinking of thoughts but the transmutation of these thoughts into practical things. Make your cry to "be" rather than to "have". Thought can be turned within where it will take hold of the heart of things, the spirit of things. When you get to the heart of things it is comparatively easy to understand and command these.

Every obstacle conquored and every victory gained will give you more faith in your power and you will have greater ability to win. Your strength is determined by your mental attitude.

The Law of Compensation will bring about an exact equilibrium between what we have earned and what we have given and what we have gotten, reassures Charles Haanel.

Intuition can be cultivated and developed; in order to do this it must be recognized and appreciated. If the intuitive visitor is given a royal welcome when he comes, he will come again; the more cordial the welcome, the more frequent his visits will become. But if he is ignored or neglected he will make his visits few and far apart. Intuition usually comes in silence.

Part Eighteen, Week Eighteen: Meditation Practice

Concentrate on your power to create; seek insight, and perception. The physical man lives and moves and needs air. The spiritual man lives and moves and has his being in subtler energy upon which he depends for life. Life assumes form after a seed is sown.

Thoughts for the Week:

"There is no thought in my mind but it quickly tends to convert itself into a power and organizes a huge instrumentality of means." -- Emerson

In order to grow, we must obtain what is necessary for our growth. This is brought about through the Law of Attraction, Charles Haanel reminds us. This principle is the sole means by which the individual is differentiated from the Universal.

Part Nineteen, Week Nineteen: Meditation Practice

Concentrate -- and become so absorbed in the object of your thought that you are conscious of nothing else. A few minutes each day. take time to assimilate mental food.

Thoughts for the Week:

Charles Haanel is interested as was Bob Proctor, in electricity, If we comply with the laws and principles, it will provide for us more abundant energy. There is only one principle. Darkness disappears when the light is turned on. Ignorance is simply the absence of knowledge.

In the spiritual world we speak of mind and matter as separate entities, but clearer insight makes it evident there is but one operative principle and that is mind.

Charles Haanel gives us his syllogism:

Mind is real and eternal.

Matter is forever changing.

Matter is simply a condition of mind.

Part Twenty, Week Twenty: Meditation Practice

Go into the silence and concentrate on "In Him we live and move and have our being."

Thoughts for the Week:

Form depends upon the rate of vibration, explains Charles Haanel. Creative energy originates in the Universal yet is manifested through the individual.

God is spirit. Spirit is the creative principle of the Universe. All form is the result of the thinking process. Thinking is the true business of life and power is the result.

Part Twentyone, Week Twentyone: Meditation Practice

Concentrate on the Truth. Try, Charles Haanel tells us, to realize that the Truth shall make you free; that nothing can permanently stand in the way of your perfect success. The silence offers an ever-available and almost unlimited opportunity for awakening the highest conception of Truth.

Thoughts for the Week

The real secret to power is consciousness. The Universal Mind is unconditional. When the individual mind touches the Universal Mind. it receives all the power it requires. This is the world within, Charles Haanel reminds us. All science recognizes the reality of this world and all power is contingent upon recognition of this world.

Large ideas have a tendency to eliminate smaller ideas....

Everything (idea) that is held for any length of time in the consciousness eventually becomes impressed upon the subconscious and thus becomes a pattern which the creative energy will weave into the life and environment of the individual. The predominant thought or the mental attitude is the magnet, and the law is that "like attracts like" consequently the mental attitude will invariably attract such conditions as correspond to its nature.

Charles Haanel asks, "What of the night?"

The old regime versus the new is entirely a question of conviction in the minds of the people as to the nature of the Universe. When they realize that, as Charles Haanel says, "the transcendent force of Spirit or Mind of the Cosmos is within each individual, it will be possible to frame laws that shall consider the many liberties and rights of the many instead of the priviledges of the few."

Isn't this incredible? The founding fathers of the United States of America thought that they had taken the rights and liberties of the individual into consideration, but Charles Haanel is still questionning this in the early 1900's. Why is that? Because the Industrial Revolution needed cheap labor for the urban factories and was using child labor and working people from dark to dark. Labor Unions eventually rose up to correct the inhuman treatment of the workers, but now American manufacturers are exploiting labor in foreign lands. Exploitation is not part of the Law of Attraction which demands that fair compensation be given to any person in contract with you, and competition will also set a person on the wrong path. We are expected to manifest freely, without need to exploit or to "beat" our neighbor.

Charles Haanel continues. "The real interest of Democracy is therefore to exalt, emancipate and recognize the divinity of the human spirit, to recognize that all power is from within, and that no human being has any more power than any other human being, except as they may willingly be delegated to him.

The old regime would have us believe that the law was superior to the law makers; herein is the gist of the social crime of every form of privilege and personal inequality -- the institutionalizing of Divine elections.

Part Twenty two, Week Twenty two: Meditation Practice

Concentrate on Tennyson, "Speak to Him, tho, for He hears, and spirit with spirit can meet. Closer is He than breathing, and nearer than hands and feet.

Thoughts for the Week

Try to realize that when you do speak to Him you are in touch with Omnipotence.

Part Twentythree, Week Twentythree: Meditation Practice

Concentrate -- Man is not a body w/a spirit, but a spirit w/a body.

Thoughts for the Week

Desire is the attractive force which sets the current in motion. We make money by making friends and we enlarge our circle of friends by making money for them. The first Law of Success then is service. Make a money magnet of yourself by making money for others. This is not only a suggestion of Charles Haanel, but also of Napoleon Hill.

Part Twentyfour, Week Twentyfour: Meditation Practice

Charles Haanel tells us to "Concentrate on a wonderful world. Wonderful I awaken to the truth."
